I was tasked with resolving the excessive light bleeding issue on the RT-7000 Transceiver. Excessive light bleeding obscured the boundaries between the individual LEDs.
Reviewed CAD model assembly to determine root cause of light bleeding issue
Reviewed findings with mechanical engineering cohorts and confirmed the root cause of the excessive light bleeding.
Using Inventor, I re-designed the plastic housing to resolve the light bleeding issue.
Built a prototype by hand to confirm concept resolves the issue
Once confirmed, modified features in CAD model to mirror concept, and included details to meet clearance requirements to PCB components
Held design review meeting with mechanical and manufacturing engineering cohorts for feedback
Updated CAD model and mechanical drawings, and released ECO to modify production tool
Coordinated and scheduled protoype build with manufacturing team
Results from prototype build confirmed the engineering changes resolved the issue
